so far, we have confirmed that you only need to own the dlc for the base game to unlock the upgrade. where we are running into issues is the unlock criteria for both the upgrade voucher itself and the upgraded game (spacer’s choice edition) If you can install it, you should be able to play it It should be free and let you install from there. once you have the upgrade, you use your “digital voucher” more or less, to purchase the spacer’s choice version from the store.
buying the spacer’s choice upgrade doesn’t grant you the spacer’s choice edition of the game, it acts as more of a voucher the gamepass game and spacer’s choice are two separate items and treated like two different games in the store There is a ton of confusion and various methods to make this work, so I wanted to try to make a quick methodology and breakdown available. I don’t know if it makes it available to purchase if it tracks your ownership or if anyone can buy it, but I’m not supposed to be able to play the Spacer’s Choice version of the game without owning the original.

I have only ever played the base game on gamepass. That’s been part of the uproar over its upgrade pathway. It’s totally unconnected to the game pass game and dlc. It is a port that was just released a month ago. The Spacer’s Choice is the next-gen only version of the game.
